Summary of Validators’ Discussions
Node Synchronization and Snapshot Issues
One of the primary challenges discussed by validators during this week was related to node synchronization, particularly when updating to Story Protocol v0.11.0. Validators frequently encountered issues with snapshots and node syncing, resulting in a lot of back-and-forth troubleshooting.
Validator Key Recovery and Moniker Issues
Some validators faced difficulties when trying to recover their validator keys or reuse their moniker names after resetting their nodes. This sparked discussions on how to properly recover validator keys and the steps involved in ensuring no data is lost during the recovery process.
Snapshot File Size and Storage Management
Validators encountered storage issues when decompressing snapshot files, which led to confusion about the necessary disk space for running the node. Some validators ran out of disk space while extracting the snapshots, which delayed their node's functionality.
Unstaking and Testnet Tokens
Several validators faced issues with unstaking their nodes and not receiving testnet tokens in return. The team acknowledged an unstaking bug, with users reporting concerns over not getting their test coins and the illogical rules around staking for test nodes.
